Mick caught my eye as he was standing in Foster St having a break from wandering around all the showrooms in Sydney’s Saturday in Design. I loved the jacket he was wearing with its wonderful collar detail (from Melbourne but not sure of the label – Mick maybe you could let us know?). The simple palette of soft blacks and greys, lifted by the white shoes was the ultimate in laid back cool. Thanks Mick
This last weekend saw 2 days of product launches and showroom openings all over Sydney for the design industry event Saturday in Design. Highlights included the fantastically colourful world of Missoni at Spence & Lyda, with artist Lisa Hoelzl in situ to paint a mural featuring the cactus motif of the current Missoni Home collection on the showroom window and chat to visitors. Thanks to Fiona Lyda for allowing me to take some photos on the day. The Schiavello showroom was also a riot of new forms and colour with the space turned into a metaphorical backyard complete with astro turf and totem tennis amidst their product range. The Launch Pad exhibition at the Living Edge was a good showcase of the work and ideas of emerging designers.
